The Source of Happiness

It’s so easy to get wrapped up in the highs and lows of life. For me, I tend to put way too much faith in sports teams to bring me fulfillment and happiness; the highs are high and the lows are lower.

Other times, it’s easy for me to put my faith in government to bring me happiness or satisfaction; the highs are never that high and the lows are lower.

As I sit at home this dreary November morning, I am reminded of the goodness of God. How patient the Lord is with me when like a child, I continually look to earthly things to bring me fulfillment when He’s told me so many times that’s not where I’ll find it.

Sometimes we joke that there’s no manual to this thing we call life. But did you know there is? God gave us His word that we might look to Him for answers and correct our own wrong thinking.

God sent the Living Word, his son Jesus, to die for us that we might have relationship with Him. God sent the Holy Spirit that we might find truth in a world full of lies. That we might find wisdom in a world full of foolishness.

One day every knee will bow to the Almighty God.

May we choose His love, His guidance, His peace, and His fulfillment long before that day.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding.” Proverbs 3:5

“Guard your heart above all else, for it is the source of life.” Proverbs 4:23

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” Proverbs 9:10
